Choosing a Dog Bone E-mail

Benefits of a Dog Bone

There are many ways to help your dog's health. Using a dog bone is one of them. It's recommended to allow your dog to chew on a bone for a few reasons:

  • Boredom Relief
By chewing a dog bone you're allowing the continued stimulation of your dogs mind. Dog's love to chew and play with their bones for hours.

  • Dental Care
A dog's teeth build up all kinds of 'junk' on them over the course of time. A bone will allow your dog to chew and scrape away all that buildup, allowing clean healthy teeth.

  • Stop Unwanted Chewing
Some dogs have a huge urge to chew. They just love it. By using a dog bone , you are in effect allowing them to get this urge out of their system. If your dog is still young this may be really beneficial considering the chewing and teething stage that all puppies go through. This will help reinforce what kind of things your dog is allowed to chew on.

  • Digestion
The chewing of a dog bone keeps the digestive fluids flowing and may help in certain situations where a dog has poor digestive functions.

Finding the Right Dog Bone

There are many choices to consider when looking for a bone for you're dog. It's recommended not to use ones leftover from your meals or found leftover from a butcher shop. This kind of bone can cause digestive problems and perhaps wear down their teeth. Rather, one should purchase a bone made specifically for a dog such as a rawhide bone.

Keep these four things in mind when choosing a dog bone:
  • Shape
  • Size
  • Hardness
  • Flavour

Remember you may need to experiment at first when buying a bone for your dog. It may turn out that your dog does not appreciate one of the preceding factors in his or her bone. Just because your dog doesn't like that specific bone, does not mean that he or she dislikes all bones.
